Nigel Goss

Nigel Goss works as a bassist and music teacher. His first professional gig playing in a rock band at The Muse when he was 17 years old.

He went on to study double bass and bass guitar in the jazz tradition at Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle, WA, where he lived for six years, before moving back to Nantucket in 2010.

He now performs regularly with many of the islands most in demand musicians, works as a band director for both NMC and St. Paul’s Church, and teaches private music lessons.

He believes that the learning process is never finished, and so he currently studies privately with top jazz musicians in New York City, and some of the best classical players in the Boston area.

Elizabeth let me play the Red Violin after her performance! The sound was warm and it played with ease. I tried to focus on the instrument but I got completely discombobulated when I realized she had walked away leaving me with the violin. So I just kept playing! Where else in the world could that have happened? Thanks NCMC.

With beautiful practice spaces and meticulously maintained Steinway pianos, a music library stocked full of new and historic scores and a Sibelius-ProTools Independent Learning System!  The Nantucket Community Music Center is the place for learning, exploring, and experiencing music on Nantucket.  Well done!
