Aidan Sherry

Aidan Sherry is a guitarist and educator. He is a graduate of Nantucket High School (2006) and Berklee College of Music (2011). A native of Nantucket, he has been a guitar instructor  for the NCMC since 2008, while he was still a student at Berklee. Since college he has been an active performer on Nantucket where he performs with local jazz musicians, Jason Sullivan and Ecliff Graves among others. Together, the aforementioned collective for years headlined the Jazz at Sunset concert series, held at the African Meeting House. Guest musicians at these concerts included Saxophone legend George Young and local musicians, Nigel Goss and Matthew Hutchenson. While primarily a performer in the jazz idiom, Aidan draws his teaching style from a variety of styles, and players whom he has studied over the years, or studies with in his years as a student at Berklee. Contact Aidan for more information regarding Guitar and Ukulele lessons for all ages and levels of experience.

I usually have students learn the piece by ear before reading it from the sheet music. Singing what you play and what you hear is a solid route to developing superior musicianship and it a vital part of the lessons.
